Durban — A vehicle from Wentworth was found stripped after both the car and the motorist were taken in an alleged hijacking.

PT Alarms said that as it was committed to recovering vehicles and fighting vehicle crime, the PT Alarms tactical unit sprang into action on Sunday night to recover a hijacked Ford Figo from the Wentworth area.

“The maroon Ford Figo was hijacked by unknown gunmen in the Wentworth area and the driver was also taken by the three suspects. The driver was dropped off in eManzimtoti,” PT Alarms said.

“The owner contacted the tracking company and the device was activated. The vehicle was tracked by PT tactical unit and recovered in Silvertree Road, Wentworth. The vehicle was found abandoned and stripped,” it said.

PT Alarms said well done to the responders on yielding positive results in these challenging times.

Units that were involved were both PT Alarms and Wentworth SAPS.

Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the complainant alleged that on Sunday, at 10.50pm, he was driving his vehicle on Croton Road in Wentworth when he was accosted by four armed men who demanded his car keys. They robbed him of his belongings and he was dropped off in eManzimtoti area.

“The vehicle was later found abandoned and stripped. A case of carjacking was opened at Wentworth police station for investigation,” she said.
