American rapper Kendrick Lamar has been the talk of town lately, following his beef with Drake.

However, this week he was trending for his “Squabble Up” music video.

His fans were impressed with the type of dances he chose for the music video. Instead of following European beauty standards, he opted for plus-size, dark-skinned women.

“Y’all can call me ‘too woke’ or whatever but seeing those beautiful plus size women dancing and having fun in the mv [music video]  made me so damn happy, man,” said @AvgKdotEnjoyer.

Another fan, @lakerboi_JayBig, said: “It’s a beautiful thing to see and they [are] doing their thang [thing] too…but of course, you gonna [are going to] have some miserable haters finding a way to hate tho [though] …but all and all top tier, 10/10.”

However, others called him a hypocrite since his wife is a light-skinned petite woman.

“This man married the lightest, brightest, skinniest, woman he could find. He rarely if ever do sh*t for the black community or Compton. At what point do y’all realize the sh*t he does is performative?

“He just knows exactly how to appeal to you appease y’all,” said @BoujeeNBanjee.

Others pointed out how he uses the traumas of black Americans to sell his music.

“Three big backs patting their heads. Dude getting attacked by a pit. A little black boy sitting in the corner and a car bouncing obnoxiously, this n**** sells trauma and stereotypes,” said @ronniefrom38th.

In other news, American singer Chloe Bailey shared how much she used to love Lamar and thought she would end up with him.

“I did not hop on the Kendrick train just now. About eight years ago, I had a whole Kendrick phase. I was convinced I was going to be with him and I loved him when I was younger so much.

“From ‘Section 80,’ even the mixtape before that, like I’ve been a die-hard Kendrick fan,” she said.
