Tributes pour in for rapper Malome Vector after his death in car accident

Record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment on Wednesday evening confirmed that their former signee Malome Vector had died in a car accident.

Malome Vector was travelling to Lesotho from Gauteng to shoot a music video when the crash happened. He was with his musical collaborators Lizwi Wokuqala and Puleng Phoofolo.

"With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of a shining beacon; the Lion of Lesotho's sun has set. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and industry peers during this time of profound loss," the record label wrote on their social media platforms.

The 2021 South African Music Award winner for Best Music Video of the Year is said to have encountered the accident on the N1 close to the Koppies turn-off near Kroonstad.

Malome Vector's manager, Berry Matseletsele, speaking on radio station OFM, shared details of the accident, confirming that Phoofolo and a driver survived the car accident.

He confirmed that Lizwi Wokuqala, Malome Vector and a music video director known as Da Mos, died.

Matseletsele told the radio station that they were still figuring things out following the accident and were on the way to Sasolburg State Mortuary to identify the body and had been in communication with Malome Vector’s brother.

News of the passing has sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry with fans and colleagues paying tribute to how the young artist's lives were cut short.
