Many netizens wondered why US business mogul, Rick Ross was in South Africa and finally the secret was revealed when Pick n Pay released an ad about their loyalty program, Smart Shopper, but some South Africans were not happy about it.

The hip hop legend was seen in South Africa just a few weeks ago and as much as many were excited to see him in Mzansi, many wondered why the US business mogul was in South Africa – until on Monday when a Pick n Pay ad was released to the masses and the star of the ad is Rick Ross, alongside South Africa’s Schalk Bezuidenhout.

The ad, which is about Pick n Pay’s loyalty program, Smart Shopper, and it featured DJ Khaled’s song, “All I Do Is Win". It also shows how customers win every time they swipe their Smart Shopper card.

Vincent Viviers, Co-Head: Omnichannel at Pick n Pay said, “From his chart-topping hits to his larger-than-life empire, Ross knows hustling smart means getting the best value. And that’s exactly what Smart Shopper Price Palooza is about – a chance to win, win, win with crazy deals, double Smart Shopper points and life-enhancing cash prizes.”

Even though Pick n Pay saw Rick Ross as the "perfect" celebrity to work with for this commercial, netizens took to social media to express how they do not understand why Rick Ross is on a Pick n Pay ad.
