Former EFF Member of Parliament, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi took to social media to congratulate US singer, Beyoncé for winning the Album of the Year Award at the prestigious Grammy Awards.
In a lengthy X post, Ndlozi shared that the “Texas Hold ‘Em” hitmaker deserves the award and this win is a serious historic re-claim.
“Congratulations to Beyonce on winning Album of the Year at the Grammys. She is the fourth black woman in the close to 70 year history of that institution to attain this important award which recognises a ‘body of work’. She deserves it!” Ndlozi wrote.
He further added, “But she did more than win last night. She dedicated her win to Linda Martell, the first commercially successful black female artist in Country music. Country music, often seen as white in the USA, is actually very much part of an African American heritage.”

Ndlozi also shared that country music has the sound of black slaves of the South of the US, which tells their stories of exploitation.
The 43-year-old mother of three nabbed a total of 11 nominations at the Grammys and walked away with three awards.
Beyoncé’s 2024 country album, “Cowboy Carter” won two awards, the first one was under the category Best County Album, which made her make history as the first black woman to win a country music category in half a century.
She also bagged an award for Album of the Year as well as winning Best County Duo/Group Performance for her song with Miley Cyrus, “II Most Wanted”.
