Nigerian afrobeats star Tems is in celebratory mode after winning her second Grammy award with her hit "Love Me JeJe" in the highly contested "Best African Musical Performance" category.

The global superstar shared a motivational message on X, formerly known as Twitter reflecting on her win.

She expressed that the Grammy award was for her favourite songs she’s created; “Free Mind”, “Higher”, “Found”, “Me and U”, “Burning”, “You In My Face” and “Hold On”.

“Truly you can do whatever you want to, believe in you before anyone acknowledges you. Because it’s really about who you believe you are and how  you speak to yourself,” she wrote.

“Love Me Jeje” has been highly successful with 20 million views on YouTube and has 125 567 784 streams on Spotify.

Tems sampled a line from Seyi Sodimu’s 1999 classic “Love Me Jeje”. Tems penned a post, thanking Sodimu for clearing the song for use.

“It’s brought the original song back to life for me and I’m glad that it’s getting it’s flowers today. A timeless classic. I appreciate you so much. Thank you for your love and support,” she wrote.

At the start of 2018, a message from her daily devotional drove Tems to quit her day job as a digital marketer to pursue a career in music full-time. Since making that bold decision to quit her job, Tems real name Temilade Openiyi has achieved global recognition.

Tems in 2023 won Best Melodic Rap Performance for featuring on Future's hit “Wait For U”.

The global superstar in March will be performing live in South Africa as part of her “Born In The Wild” tour. She was also meant to perform in Kigali, Rwanda but cancelled the performance due to the conflict between Rwanda and Congo.
