After several shows being canned on the channel, Mzansi Magic has announced that a new drama series will be debuting in March.

A powerhouse cast has been brought together to bring this gripping story to life; Bonko Khoza,  Ayanda Borotho, Noluthando Ngema, Siphosethu Mabaso and Nelisiwe Sibiya.

Khoza takes on the challenging role of twin brothers and is excited for the nation to experience “iThonga”. This is the second time Khoza will be portraying a twin character, last year he stunned viewers on “Red Ink”.

"It’s an authentic South African story rooted in the beautiful IsiZulu culture and one of the freshest narratives to hit our screens. Mzansi, you don’t want to miss this!" Said Khoza.

“iThongo” is set against the breathtaking backdrop of KwaZulu-Natal, the drama unfolds in a world of construction mafias, betrayal and a destiny too powerful to escape. As Banele and Sanele’s separate lives become one, the big question is: if twins share a soul, where does one end and the other begin?

Director of Local Entertainment Channels Shirley Adonisi describes iThonga as a game-changer: “This series focuses on the mystical and unshakable bond between twins and the lengths they will go to,  to protect each other’s legacy against any negative forces at play. It’s a powerful blend of culture, family and the unseen forces that bind twins together!”

"iThonga" premieres on Monday 03 March at 20:30 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161).

Last year, Mzansi Magic announced the cancellation of “My Brothers Keeper” and “Umkhokha: The Curse”, the channel has shared that more local productions would be coming to screens.

Also in March, Mzansi Magic will also debut multi-award winning “The River” spin-off series, “Cobrizi”, starring Presley Chweneyagae returning to his popular character of Thuso ‘Cobra’ Mokoena.

The 13-episode drama sees Cobra attempting to do right by his youngest child and prove he is not a loser. He unexpectedly finds love and after moving to inner-city Johannesburg.

The series will boast a cast of come familiar faces from “The River” like Thapelo Sebogodi (as Kabzela) who was Cobra’s ‘bra’(bestie), the vivacious Winnie Ntshaba and they will be joined by  award-winning actress Thembsie Matu (as Ous Sheila) and Sivenathi Mabuya (Bongiwe).
