The prestigious South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) have announced the nominations for their 18th annual Award ceremony and Sindi Dlathu has received yet another nod.

With her consistent delivery of ‘’Madlabantu’’ a nickname dubbed for the character she plays, she is known for her ruthless and cunning ways, stopping at nothing to get what she wants, especially when it comes to wealth and power.

Dlathu has earned a nomination in the Best Actress category for each season of The River. A nod for her exceptional talent, dedication, and passion for her work. This year’s nomination will be her sixth in the category.

The renowned actress broke the record for the most SAFTA nominations for a single role over all seasons of the show in 2023 and is the only actress to achieve this. Out of all the nominations, Dlathu has managed to ‘’bag’’ two wins.

The River has reached its sixth and final season, and Dlathu has certainly left a mark as a household name on the show.

Dlathu’s consistency at delivering an outstanding performance on the telenovela has made her a force to be reckoned with.

Her followers are excited about her achievement and are co-signing the nod, saying she is deserving of the nomination as they have watched her bring life to her character as the villainous Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana over the years.

Also nominated in this year’s SAFTA Best Actress category is Zikhona Sodlaka for her role in Gqeberha and the late Connie Chiume for her role as Mam Sonto in Gomora.
