South Africans will be able to watch the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Monday, February 3, 2025, on S3.
The channel has acquired the licence to broadcast the music awards show and also noted that fellow South African, Trevor Noah will be this year’s host.
The Grammy Awards are presented by the Recording Academy of the United States and recognise outstanding achievements in the music industry.
The event will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
“A series of special performances will highlight the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, including the annual In Memoriam segment, a star-studded salute to the life and legacy of Quincy Jones and touching tributes celebrating the spirit of the city of Los Angeles,” according to S3 statement.
Who will be performing?
The awards organisers said that Chris Martin, Cynthia Erivo, Janelle Monáe and John Legend are just some of the artists scheduled to perform on the night.
“The biggest night in music entertainment is coming to S3,” Sane Zondi, S3 Head of Channel said on Saturday.
She said that this was an incredible win for the channel and is a testament to the growth and turnaround strategy in place.
“We started this strategy at the beginning of April 2024 when we brought a series of big-ticket entertainment shows to our audiences. Adding the Grammys is another testament to the hard work that the team at S3 has been doing and a further testament to the support from our leaders in supporting and adopting the strategy devised and implemented by the team,” she said.
“At S3, we celebrate our own and hope the viewers will celebrate Trevor Noah being on a PBS channel again and enjoy the musical acts and entertainment. We will continue aggressively pursuing big-ticket shows and events that drive audiences back to S3,” Zondi added.
The Grammy Awards will be shown on S3 at 19:00, and a repeat broadcast will be shown on Saturday, February 8 at 19:30.
