GENEVA MOTOR SHOW - We all know that the Toyota RAV4 is more of a soft-roader than a genuine bundu-basher, but Toyota likes to point out that it has a certain measure of off-road capability and its 'Adventure' design study seeks to reinforce this notion.
Unveiled at the Geneva show on Wednesday, the Adventure sports extended wheel arches that house a sporty set of 20-inch alloys.
It also has machined roof rails as well as a more aggressive front end, complete with a redesigned front bumper finished with matt paint and incorporating a new under-run. The rear bumper has a similar paint finish and houses a set of integrated twin exhaust pipes and a reworked skid plate.
The end result is something that looks like more of a street racer than trail raider, although there's nothing exciting to speak of in terms of engine modifications.
The ordinary version of the new Toyota RAV4 is set to arrive in South Africa next month. See our driving impressions, this Thursday, in the motoring supplement of The Star, Pretoria News, Mercury or Cape Times.
