It appears that Toyota is changing its tune slightly on the styling of its eagerly anticipated rear-wheel drive FT-86 sport car.
This teaser shot shows the frontal design of what Toyota calls the FT-86 II concept car, which will make an appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in March. This latest concept builds on the original concept car and gives a clearer idea of how the production sports car will look.
There appears to be much truth in Toyota's statement that this car embodies the company's reborn passion for sports cars. The FT-86 production car is due to be revealed at the end of this year, its aim being to provide the world with a relatively affordable, rear-wheel drive Toyota sports car.
Subaru is also in on this project, its version also being rear-wheel driven, and it is speculated that the pair will offer a choice of engine derivatives ranging from naturally aspirated Subaru boxer engines at the bottom of the range to the WRX's turbocharged unit for performance models.
Don't know about you, but we can't wait for this development to unfold further, but let's just hope they get the pricing right (as in somewhere on the good side of reasonable).
