As the last pure internal combustion engined Audi RS6 Avant model ever to be introduced, the GT special edition has been described as the pinnacle of the RS series.

And it’s going to be extremely exclusive too.

Just 660 of them are going to be produced, and many countries won’t receive any at all, but Audi South Africa has managed to secure a single unit for the local market.

The carmaker announced on Thursday that this one car, “unit 74”, will be auctioned at a “dazzling” gala dinner in Cape Town on November 7, and potential bidders can register here.

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to a yet-to-be-named worthy charity, Audi SA says, with further details to be announced at a later stage.

No reserve price has been announced, but it will surely exceed the R2.37 million that Audi currently charges for the regular RS6 Avant.

The special edition was inspired by the 1989 Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO race car.

“The Audi RS 6 Avant GT marks the end of an illustrious era for the famed RS 6 series. The GT is more than just a car; it represents the apex of our engineering excellence and a legacy of which we are immensely proud,” says Sascha Sauer, Head of Audi South Africa.

Inspired by the 1989 Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO race car, the partially-hand-assembled RS6 Avant GT boasts a number of unique features and enhancements, including a lightweight adjustable coilover suspension and reworked quattro sport rear differential.

As per the regular RS6, power comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that shunts out 463kW and 850Nm, allowing for a 3.3-second 0-100km/h sprint.

South Africa’s #74 car will be painted in Arkona White, with black, grey and red details denoting the traditional Audi Sport colours. It will roll on unique 22-inch alloy wheels in high-gloss white.

The cabin features a fresh heritage-inspired colour combination as well as individual vehicle numbering, while front occupants get to sink into RS bucket seats in Dinamica microfiber and leather, with a honeycomb pattern.

But will you make it yours on November 7? Start scratching those lotto tickets.
