When you fail to show up for a wedding, you certainly owe the happy couple an explanation.
But one bride took things further and demanded £50 from missing guests.
The unnamed newlywed - who has been nicknamed Bridezilla - insisted Jessica Baker and her husband had to pay for the cost of the food they ordered before missing her wedding in the US.
She sent them a breakdown of the cash they owed, including tax and service, which brought it to £50.
US reports say she sent the same letter to two other couples.
Miss Baker, from Minnesota, said she had to miss the wedding because her babysitter cancelled at the last minute and the invitation said children were not allowed.
But a few weeks later she got a letter demanding the $75.90, saying the money was to pay for two herb-crusted fish that she and her husband had ordered when they accepted the invitation.
The letter said: “This cost reflects the amount paid by the bride and groom for meals that were RSVP’d for, reimbursement and explanation for no show, card, call or text would be appreciated.”
However, after hostile reaction on social media, the bride is said to have withdrawn her demand, saying it might look “tacky”.
Miss Baker said: “I don’t think we’ll be missing another wedding again.”
