A family who spent 12 months searching for their dog were overjoyed when she was found on New Year’s Day.
Ginny was stolen after she dashed from owner Hannah Draycott’s home on January 23 last year.
The two-year-old border terrier was scooped up by a man who put her in his car and drove away.
Mrs Draycott, 32, husband Mark, 40, and their nine-year-old son, Charlie, launched an appeal to find their beloved pet and offered a £1 000 reward.
They even hired a billboard featuring images of Ginny next to the M1 in Leicester, and celebrities including Andy Murray and Lorraine Kelly shared the Twitter hashtag #FindGinny.
The family were preparing an anniversary appeal when they told Ginny had been found by two girls in Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 70 miles from the family home in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
Mr Draycott, a warehouse worker, said: “We just could not believe it. We never gave up hope but some days we wondered if we would ever see her again.
“It’s the best start to the New Year. Charlie is absolutely over the moon.”
