London - It catapulted up the music charts and scooped an Oscar for Best Original Song.

But even the most successful tunes can become irritating - as the creator of Disney’s Frozen has admitted with an apology to parents.

Director Jennifer Lee said the film’s hit Let It Go had captivated children around the world - and that families were forced to listen to it repeatedly.

‘A year ago, I’d meet people who’d say, “Oh, we love the songs! We sing them all the time!”’ the 43-year-old told The Hollywood Reporter. ‘Now they’re like, “Yep, we’re still listening to those songs”. I’ve gone from, “thank you” to “sorry!”’

The animated film was released in November last year and became the fifth highest grossing film of all time, taking over $1.2billion in cinemas. It follows the story of sisters Anna and Elsa, who has magical powers with snow and ice.

But Let It Go - performed by musical theatre star Idina Menzel - quickly took on a life of its own, entering the top ten of the American Billboard Hot 100 chart and winning numerous awards.
