Founded in the 12th Century, Copenhagen is astounding in its modernity yet still richly traditional in equal measure. Denmark’s capital is vibrant, historic, and beautiful with bicycles everywhere and pedestrian friendly walkways.

The fabulous statue of The Little Mermaid draws millions of tourists to the city. The fairytale story, immortalised by Hans Christian Andersen, makes the Danes justifiably proud. Seeing this diminutive statue that creates such gigantic interest was indeed inspiring.
We were fortunate to visit inside The Royal Palace of The Danish Royal Family and this exquisite painting of former Queen Margrete was jaw droppingly gorgeous. HRH abdicated in December 2023 and now her son is King, Frederick X.

The striking doorway of a fabled tea room in the city s centre obviously caught my eye, being passionate about doors.
As urban capitals go , Copenhagen is impeccably planned. A testament to Danish design . And yet this former Viking settlement still retains countless old world charm.
We enjoyed a traditional Danish lunch of open sandwiches laden with a variety of delicious foods such as salmon, prawns, herring, egg, cold cuts and vegetables.
This is the largest houseboat on the canals where the owners spend their Summers.
I took a side trip to the little seaside village of Dragor and was totally blown away by its beauty.
