As January approaches, speculation is mounting around the future of young football sensation Mathys Tel. The talented player, currently with Bayern Munich, is drawing attention from some of England's most prestigious clubs, including Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, and Arsenal.
Following revelations from transfer experts, it appears that the 19-year-old Tel's could soon be on his way out from the Bavarian giants, prompting questions about his next destination. There has been rumours that he wants a move to Manchester United, while Tottenham are ready to splash the cash for the forward to try and ease their injury crisis.
Born in the Parisian suburb of Sarcelles, Tel's has been compared to a young Thierry Henry, a versatile striker who can play through the middle or wide on the left. But a lack of gametime, with former Spurs striker Harry Kane ahead of him in the pecking order, has seen him closer to the exit door.
While Bayern's crowded forward line has made it challenging for Tel to get gametime, his statistics speak for themselves. In just 1,023 minutes played, he boasts an impressive 83.3% passing accuracy, ranking him among the top 6% of midfielders and strikers in that regard. Furthermore, his actions leading to goals put him in the top 3%, with an average of 0.88 successful goal actions per 90 minutes.
What makes Tel such an inviting prospect for Premier League suitors is strength on the ball to go with his pace, dribbling and finishing ability.
The French age-group international is quick and can score with both feet, but he also has the power to hold the ball up and bring other players into the game. He is also very good in the air, which adds to that versatility.
At it stands, it's been reported that United are holding out for a loan move and seem to be in pole position to land the "generational talent".
Gametime would definitely not be a problem for Tel at United, with No 9s Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund struggling to make a consistent impact. Tel could also slot down the left side in the continued absence of Marcus Rashford.
At Tottenham, Tel would be competing with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison down the middle, while captain Son Heung-min, Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert are options on the left. However, with Tottenham down to bare bones upfront because of injuries, Tel may walk into the North London club's starting team at the moment.
Arsenal are also desperately looking for themselves after losing Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka to injuries over the last couple of weeks.
Wherever this kid lands up, he could become the next global superstar in the years to come.
