Durban - Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini will host retired American boxing legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather at an international boxing event organised by the J4 Joy International Boxing Tournament at the Moses Mabhida Stadium next Sunday.
And if you would like a seat next to the king and the legend, it will cost you a knockout R50 000. Dubbed ‘The King Misuzulu International Boxing Tournament’, the match features six title bouts.
The ‘main bout’ features Fuzile Azinga (South Africa) versus Rene Tellez Giron (Mexico) and the ‘main supporting bout’ Roland Malindi (SA) versus Jorge Orozco Medoza (Mexico). The ‘National Title’ bout pits Prince Dlomo (champion) against Marcus Lebogo (challenger). Contsting ‘The Bayede Championship Belt’ are Lindokuhle Dlamini and Ntethelelo Nkosi.
Also on the card isthe World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title clash between Mapule Ngubane (SA) and Maricela Cornejo (US) and the World Boxing Association (WBA) title match between Rhofiwa Nemashungwa (SA) and Fillipus Shaanuka (Namibia). Zanemvula Ndamase, CEO of J4 Joy International Tournaments, said King Misuzulu was continuing the tradition started by his late father, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu. “The Bayede Championship title will be launched by King Misuzulu.
The championship was conceptualised and established by the king’s late father and he’ll be presenting it to the winner of the vacant KZN junior welterweight title fight between Ntethelelo Nkosi and Lindokuhle Dlamini,” said Ndamase. He said King Goodwill Zwelithini had been passionate about boxing and wanted to create a recreational sport that could keep children off the streets.
Ndamase said Mayweather was expected in the country on Friday. The highest-priced ticket for the tournament is priced at R50 000, which is a VVIP Dome front-row seat next to the king and Mayweather, followed by the R25 000 ticket for a seat which was still in the presence of the king and included meals and beverages served at your table.
There were also VIP Suite tickets going for R10 000, where you can enjoy a buffet and beverages, while the general grandstand tickets were priced at R150. King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s spokesperson, Prince Thulani Zulu, said he did not have information about the boxing tournament.
