Street quizzes are notorious for being difficult and catching people off guard. Digital content creator @JustDaniche took to the streets of Cape Town to find out how well Cape Town residents know the country and its geography.

Out with his mic at Sea Point, the content creator asked those willing to participate in the street quiz, “How many provinces are there in South Africa”.

General knowledge is knowledge of a broad range of facts about various subjects in this case, the subject is Geography.

The big question being a geographical topic is taught in the intermediate phase (Grade 4 -Grade 6) at South African schools.

The content creator questioned 5 people and only one person, from the Free State, was able to get the answer right leading South African TikTok users to bury their head in shame.

Commenting on this, @oefentse_m17, said: “So these people don't travel around the country at all Or?”

Another TikTok user, @herchapters23, joked: “Cape Town is its own country they don't recognise us guys.”

Shocked, @ungrateful_onion said: “I remember having to draw the provinces and name them back in grade 7 like guys😭.”

Whilst @brc123445662 said: “If you’re from Cape Town anything past plettenberg bay is all Joburg to us.”

And @kamogelo_mabitsela said: “I actually can’t believe this is real😭😭😭 what country do these people think they’re living in?!??😭😭😭.”

According to South Africa Government’s official website, the country is one of the most diverse countries in the world and is divided into nine provinces, each with its own legislature, premier and executive council.

The provinces are Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and the North West Province.
