Black Crown, the Scorpion Kings and Spotify celebrated their three-way collaboration in style this week at the stylish The Roof Bryanston.
The do, themed Black and Gold, saw a throng of guests, who honoured the dress code and made it a point to dress to the nines, coming out to celebrate this momentous partnership.
This announcement comes at the peak of the duo’s careers, an alliance made up of DJ Maphorisa and Kabza de Small who have together consistently made waves in music since 2019; years after their individual music careers had kicked off.
Tuesday proved to be yet another big night for them, one for the books where music, drinks and fun were the order of the night.
In their consistent and undeniable run of many achievements, the pair launched their exclusive playlist on Spotify, sponsored by Black Crown Gin, which features specially curated songs that carry their unmistakable signature.
Joining forces with the pair, according to Black Crown’s Marketing Lead Gugu Dlamini, and bringing the first exclusively curated amapiano playlist to Spotify is just another way of celebrating innovation and being African in one pot.
Dlamini says: “Black Crown unapologetically celebrates African pride, and so intends to continue inspiring young Africans to remain authentic and grounded in an absolute belief in self - a royal state of mind. How better to bring this to life than collaborating with the truly African sound of Scorpion Kings!”
Guests were hosted at the restaurant’s rooftop and got to not only take in the slow setting spring sun but also enjoy the beautiful city’s terrain, that can be easily missed in the hustle and bustle of urban life.
To add onto the celebration of African excellence, the venue was brilliantly styled in curated African art on display by Black Crown’s David Blaq, Great Joy and Themba Mbuyisa.
Guests also got to enjoy the live performance from the excited duo and also from the likes of DJ RoxPaperz Scissors and Don Design, while the night was hosted by the talented Anele Zondo.
All in all, the night was one to remember, honouring the kings in music.
