Acclaimed singer Elaine, real name Ndivhuwo Mukheli, has sparked a wave of excitement among music lovers after announcing the much-awaited release of her song “Waiting on You”, which is scheduled for August 2.

The artist spilled the tea on the thrilling news on social media, saying she was eager to share her world with her fans.

“This doesn’t even feel real, but I’m so excited that we’re finally here. 😭🥺 The first single from my debut album is yours this Friday. 💿✨ Thank you for your patience, Shining Stars. I can’t wait to share my journey with you and bring you into this little world that I’ve created. 🌍💿 This music means so much to me, and I hope that it does the same for you as it’s done for me. A special thank you to everybody involved. ‘Waiting on You’ is out August 2nd,” she said.

Owing to her indelible mark in the music industry, she was selected by global streaming giant Spotify to join the EQUAL Africa programme aimed at spotlighting female artists across the continent.

Elaine made her debut in the music industry with the chart-topping deep R&B single “You’re The One”, from the “Elements EP”, in 2019.

The song reintroduced South African R&B, captivating listeners with her sultry voice and narrating stories that transcend national boundaries.

Her first release, which she made while a law student at the University of the Witwatersrand, went on to sell many platinum records.

When the programme was announced, she stated that witnessing women succeed in a society where expectations and norms are designed to confine and box them in has been her greatest source of inspiration.

She emphasised that they are the cultural bearers and have a significant impact on how people perceive and use music.

Spotify’s Phiona Okumu praised RADAR Africa Alumni Elaine as one of the talented female artists from Africa making significant global and continent-wide contributions.

Okumu remarked that they were pleased to have her join the EQUAL programme because she is a musician who is rapidly growing her fan base as a signed artist with international record companies.

They were also glad to be able to offer her helpful contacts, instruments, and encouragement, all of which they believed would advance her career even more.
