Meadowlands Real Madrid became the latest victims of unbeaten Stream D log leaders Freedom Park Brothers who beat them 2-1 at a packed Freedom Park ground in a thrilling Soweto Football Association’s (SFA) Premier League match at the weekend.

Brothers’ victory underlines coach Patrick Mulea’s believe that his team would never be beaten at home.

“We are unbeaten up to now. Every team wants to beat us, but it’s not easy at home. We also win away because the players are dedicated and committed,” said Mulea.

Elsewhere, Pimville Cameroon’s owner/coach Zakes Khumalo took a swipe at the referees selection committee for appointing a referee from Pimville Zone 6, where their opponents Premier Impala are based.

Khumalo’s gripe follows his team’s 3-2 defeat at hands of Impala in a Stream A match at the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Soweto campus.

“I don’t usually complain about referees, but I don’t understand why a referee who comes from the same area as the team we play against was appointed to officiate.

“Mind you, this was a derby and expectations were high. But we are not protesting,” said Khumalo.

In a one-sided game, Floyd Norkem Rangers gave Cosmos Stars a free soccer lesson, beating them 6-1 in a Stream B match at George Ndlovu Sport Centre in Pimville.

Rangers have improved in all the departments since former Witbank Black Aces’ right- back and Tembisa Classic’s coach Sello Mahlangu was appointed coach.

Rangers manager Lee Mothiba said: “We are indebted to Mahlangu who came up with some changes in the team.”

In a Stream C match at Rockville Stadium, Rockville Hungry Lions narrowly beat Senaoane Gunners 3-2.

The match between the two old rivals, who are separated by Koma Road, always evokes old memories.

In another Stream C match, Orlando Destroyers and Wanderers Boys shared the points after a goalless draw at the Naledi Extension 2 Ground.

Protea Hill Stars recorded yet another impressive victory against Woodpeckers, also in a Stream C match, at the same venue.

Soweto SAPS continued to make their presence felt in Stream D.

The men in blue beat a gutsy PCO Young Ones 2-1 at the George Ndlovu Sports Centre.

Coach Johannes Matlala was ecstatic and praised the opponents: “They are young and made us run a lot. But we eventually conquered them because they relaxed and took us for granted.

“As long as other clubs keep on disrespecting us, we’ll carry on winning.”
