THE Premier Soccer League transfer window closed on Tuesday, and there was no surprise that Kaizer Chiefs yet again dominated the headlines.

After a lousy first half of the 2024/2025 season under new coach Nasreddine Nabi – all whilst cross-town rivals Orlando Pirates were making waves domestically and on the continent – Amakhosi fans were straightforward with their desires to see some new faces at their Naturena base.

But their frustrations would rise to fever pitch as their beloved Glamour Boys would only confirm three new signings on the eve of the last day of the window.

Even though the mighty Amakhosi grabbed the headlines, it was the relegation-threatened Carling Knockout champions Magesi FC who made the most moves.

The league’s new boys entered the window with a new coach in Owen da Gama, who took over from Clinton Larsen, who threw in the towel.

It was Larsen who promoted the side from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, and it was him who commandeered them to their maiden Premiership season.

League champions Mamelodi Sundowns went for quality over quantity as they pinned down the best signing of the January period in Bafana Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams.

The Miguel Cardoso-coached side did not stop there, and went on to make the Mother City their hunting ground this time around, with Cape Town City’s Soweto-born defender Keanu Cupido.

Royal AM continued to endure a Fifa transfer ban.

However, even if the ban were to be lifted, they would not have been able make any moves, with their finances frozen and taken over by the South African Revenue Service.

Also known to be transfer-banned ahead of the window was Marumo Gallants, but the Free State-based team seem to have found a loophole to make a few signings.

All in all, the January transfer window was not a busy one, but also not short of talking points.

Independent Media Sport compiled the full list of signings for the Premiership teams:
