Strand Library holds fun day

Strand Library Strand Library celebrated Library Week from March 17 to March 22, with the theme "Libraries for sustainable communities". They had lots of fun activities during the week for the community to celebrate Library Week, including storytelling, and the little ones made their own little book for an activity. Library Week Danie Pienaar, a local author from Strand, visited Strand Library to talk about his popular book “History of the Strand in South Africa” - which was really enjoyed by the public.

Library Week Reuben Vente,r a Grade 8 pupil, and local author from Strand High School, read his stories to Hendrik Louw pupiles. Reuben published three books when he was still in primary school: the Dikbek en Max series: Dikbek en Max: Wereldreisigers, Dikbek en Max: Die Skaduwee in die dak En Die avonture van Dikbek en Max: Opsoek na Lulu.

Library Week Strand Library also took part in the display competition for libraries that is held each year for City libraries. The theme was “Libraries for sustainable communities” - which they made mostly out of recycled material.
