The Mseleku family is set to make a fiery return on Mzansi Magic, and the official trailer, which has been doing the rounds on social media, has fans counting down to the new six-part special “Uthando Nes’thembu Uncut”, airing on December 5.
The channel previously announced that they are closing off the year by giving viewers exactly what they have been asking for, which is more Mseleku drama, more honesty and more moments that never made it to their screens.
The trailer confirms that viewers are in for a much more raw look inside the household, with scenes that were filmed during the recent season but did not make the final cut.
The special dives straight into the tension that shaped the previous season. Musa Mseleku’s strained relationship with his wives continues to be a central theme. The biggest spotlight falls on his fourth wife, Mbali “MaNgwabe” Mseleku.
During the show’s seasons, she openly expressed that she would leave the marriage should Mseleku take a wife after her, and since he eventually did, she has been on the verge of leaving the union, although she still stayed when Mseleku went through a serious health scare.
The trailer shows that the weight of that decision is not only on her but on their eldest daughter, Mawande, who is visibly caught in the emotional crossfire. Viewers will now get to see just how heavy the situation has been for her, beyond the brief moments shown in the main season.
The trailer also teases what fans have been wanting since the eighth season, and that is more of wife number five’s pregnancy journey. When she was introduced during the latest season, viewers only got to see her announcing the pregnancy to Mseleku, but not what followed.
The new footage finally takes fans behind the scenes of that chapter, filling in the gaps that had social media buzzing earlier this year.
And, as expected, the first wife, Busisiwe “MaCele” Mseleku, still seems to be upset about something, keeping to the no-nonsense personality viewers have come to know her for.
With all these unfinished stories coming together in one place, fans are already calling the upcoming special “the gift that keeps on giving.” Most are excited to be given the front-row seat to the Mseleku family drama.
“This family is literally the only reason I reconnect my DStv,” @lulushezi commented.
“So basically, this is the extension from season 8? While we wait for season 9? It’s going to be drama after drama,” said the show’s fan @_phophoh
