1. Somizi Mhlongo graduates from fashion school
Multi-media personality Somizi Mhlongo has officially completed his studies at the Villioti Fashion Institute. Sharing the milestone on Instagram, he thanked his family, friends and fans for their support.
Celebs like Gert Johan Coetzee, Dr Rebecca Malope and Vusi Nova took to the comments to congratulate him.
Mhlongo recently closed the 2025 Durban Fashion Fair with a star-studded show featuring A-listers like Sorisha Naidoo, Mihlali Ndamase and his daughter, Bahumi Mhlongo.

2. Mariah the Scientist’s South African debut
American singer Mariah the Scientist is heading to South Africa for her debut performance. The “WAV Festival”, presented by Afro Nation, will take place on January 2, 2026, at Green Point Track in Cape Town.
The festival will also feature a mix of international and local acts, including Kelvin Momo, Shekhinah, Manana, Nanette, Kujenga and Yandani.

3. Shebeshxt under investigation
Controversial rapper Shebeshxt, real name Lehlogonolo Chauke, is under investigation after allegedly shooting a motorist in Polokwane during a road rage incident. The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Police confirmed that the confrontation escalated after both drivers pulled into a petrol station, leading to insults being exchanged before Shebeshxt allegedly drew a firearm and shot the man in the solar plexus.
The case of attempted murder has been transferred to Limpopo’s provincial murder and robbery unit.
Shebeshxt is no stranger to legal trouble. Earlier this year, a video circulated of him wielding a large knife in an altercation, and in 2022, he faced attempted murder charges for stabbing a man in Lebowakgomo. He has not commented publicly on this latest incident.

4. Nelly Furtado steps back from performing
Grammy-winning pop icon Nelly Furtado has announced that she is stepping away from performing. Known for early 2000s hits like “I’m Like A Bird”, “Say It Right” and “Promiscuous Girl”, Furtado reflected on her 25-year career in an Instagram post.
She shared memories from her first album launch, “Whoa, Nelly!,” and celebrated the impact of her music on new generations through TikTok remixes and streaming revivals.
“I have decided to step away from performance for the foreseeable future and pursue some other creative and personal endeavours,” she wrote.
After 25 years of hits, Nelly Furtado is stepping away from performing to explore new creative and personal ventures.

5. Khaya Mthethwa walks down the aisle again
Pastor and gospel musician Khaya Mthethwa has remarried, this time to fitness and travel content creator Sine Ndlovu, aka Sneryboo. The intimate ceremony took place at Oasis Church in Umlazi, south of Durban.
Mthethwa shared a picture of the couple in traditional wedding attire, captioned, “Sthandwa sami” (“My love”).
Mthethwa was married to former Miss South Africa Ntandoyenkosi Kunene Radzuma. The pastor previously opened up about his heartbreak, vowing never to divorce again.

6. Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau make romance public
Pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made their first public appearance as a couple in Paris. The outing coincided with Perry’s 41st birthday and included a cabaret at Crazy Horse Paris.
The pair were seen leaving together, Perry in a red dress and black heels, Trudeau in a classic black suit.
Fans have been following their romance since the summer, when Trudeau attended one of Perry’s Montreal concerts.
Their Paris appearance confirms that the rumours were true: they are officially a couple.

7. Rachel Kolisi opens up on TikTok
Rachel Kolisi recently shared a TikTok reflecting on her divorce from Springbok captain Siya Kolisi. The video describes betrayal trauma as “being pushed out of an airplane before you’re ready… your person watching you fall and smiling.”
While she doesn’t name Siya directly, the context implies he is the “person” in her story. Fans quickly flooded the comments with support, praising her authenticity and sharing their own experiences of heartbreak.

8. Chris Evans and Alba Baptista welcome a baby girl
Hollywood’s "Captain America", Chris Evans, and his wife Alba Baptista welcomed their first child, a daughter named Alma Grace Evans Baptista, this week in Massachusetts in the US.
The couple kept the birth private, with no social media announcement, staying true to their preference for a low-key personal life. However, “TMZ” has since managed to obtain the baby’s birth certificate.
