The new year may come with new music from one of South Africa’s most popular exported artists, Tyla.

The 23-year-old singer had a standout run with her 2024 self-titled debut album, which helped her build a global fan base and delivered some of her strongest visuals to date.

She followed that with a mixtape in July 2025, which also performed well on the charts, and later released her hit single “Chanel”, which continues her winning streak.

Now, the Grammy Award-winning musician is giving fans a glimpse of what to expect from her highly anticipated sophomore album. According to Tyla, the project will lean more into fun with a touch of the feels, but “nothing too deep”, as she put it.

The “Shake Ah” singer shared a clip of herself getting ready to some local music, bumping Winnie Khumalo’s “Live My Life” in the background.

While doing her make-up, she revealed what her eagerly awaited next album has to offer.

“This album is gonna be very fun,” Tyla said. “It’s gonna be speaking about a lot of things that I have felt throughout the year. Not like deep.

“Some of it might be layered, but more so just me in my life, what I’ve been feeling, what I’ve been experiencing, and me just being a 23-year-old girl in this big world as a South African pop star from Africa,” she concluded in a video clip.

In another clip, she showed her recording equipment in the room, sharing how excited she is and that she had a rough start; however, she’s back now.

Earlier, she also posted a cryptic message on her Instagram feed with the caption “#T2 OHHHH OHHHH ☀️”, which led fans to believe that more music is already waiting in the vault and that she is close to sharing it once final touches are complete.

Following the success of her debut album, Tyla’s sophomore project, dubbed “T2”, is one of the most anticipated releases from the pop star.

While it does not necessarily have to fill the massive shoes of her debut, which earned her the first Grammy Award of her career, the album is expected to be a breath of fresh air and packed with hits. This is one thing Tyla has consistently delivered and has set the tone with her music.

While the official album title has not been shared and the release date has not been revealed, her global fan base is waiting impatiently for the new music.
