Marc Lottering and Alfred Adriaan: a night of laughter at the Baxter Theatre
Marc Lottering and Alfred Adriaan have been tearing up stages with their “Alfred & Marc” stand-up comedy show and it's safe to say they've built a loyal following over the years.
With their unique mix of hilarious material, this show has been packing out venues
In an interview with “The Weekend Argus” last year, Adriaan opened up about his journey, reflecting on a moment he’ll never forget.
"I remember sitting in seat Q15 at the Opera House watching Marc perform, thinking to myself: 'Wow, this guy is amazing.' I never thought I’d be on the same stage as him one day,” he said, adding that Lottering inspired him to follow his dream of becoming a comedian.
In the interview, Lottering also praised Adriaan.
“Alfred is a hard worker. He’s focused and knows what he wants. I respect that," he shared.
It's clear these two comedians have a deep mutual respect, which only adds to the magic when they perform together.
The show itself is a no-holds-barred, two-hour experience split into two halves: 30 minutes from Lottering and then 30 minutes from Adriaan in the first half, followed by the reverse in the second.
The duo brings their signature flavours to the stage, Lottering with his ability to make everyday situations feel hilarious and Adriaan with his sharp takes on the complexities of life in South Africa.
Expect a lot of laughs, with plenty of those 'aha' moments that leave you thinking about the jokes long after the show’s over.
Andre and Sharesthé Koopman, a couple who caught the show on Tuesday, told “Independent Media Lifestyle”: “It was a fantastic show. The way Marc and Alfred brought together their unique styles and backgrounds was something special.”
“They both gave us a bit of history on where they started, which was really interesting and gave the show an extra layer. Marc also brought out his classic characters, and the cherry on top was seeing them wrap up the night with a song — what a surprise!”
“It was hilarious and I completely understand why the show was extended,” they concluded.

Mango Groove, a household name in South Africa’s Afropop scene, is celebrating 40 years of hits with a special one-night-only show at the beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden this Sunday, January 12.
The “Memories and Moments” concert will take the crowd on a nostalgic journey through the band's iconic music and the memories they’ve made along the way.
Claire Johnston, the band’s lead vocalist, shared her excitement for the event: “Forty years, it feels like a dream! We’re so happy to be celebrating in a place like Kirstenbosch, which holds a special place in our hearts.”

Gimme Shelter: a night of Rolling Stones music
If you’re a Rolling Stones fan, you’re in for a treat this Friday, January 10. The tribute band, Gimme Shelter is hitting the stage in the Mother City for a night of rocking out to the best of The Rolling Stones.
Four of Cape Town’s most talented rockers — Jake Gunn, Ruben Gerritz, Jean Tunes Marais and Wouter Reyneke — have been packing out venues across the Western Cape, bringing the legendary sound of the Rolling Stones back to life.
They’re set to deliver a high-energy, no-holds-barred show that will have you singing and dancing all night long.
Expect to hear all the classics like "Jumpin' Jack Flash", "Honky Tonk Woman", "Satisfaction", "Paint it Black" and "Wild Horses“.
They’ll also be treating the crowd to a few deep cuts that Stones fans might not have heard in a while. It's the perfect mix of nostalgia and rock ‘n’ roll energy.
