The Sankofa Heritage Festival
South African musical legend Thandiswa Mazwai has chosen Gauteng to launch her first-ever Sankofa Heritage Festival.
This inaugural cultural event, which is set to be an annual gathering, coincides with Mazwai's 50th birthday and celebrates her 30-year career in the music industry.
The festival seeks to preserve and celebrate indigenous African music.
The "Ingoma" hitmaker will headline the event, where attendees will be treated to some of the biggest hits from her beloved discovery over the past three decades.
Mazwai will be joined by Grammy-nominated American artist Somi, as well as Msaki, who will also perform.
Where: The Big Top Arena at Carnival City Casino.

Chinese New Year Street Festival
To celebrate The Year of the Horse, this annual festival is returning to Chinatown, Cyrildene this weekend.
The event will feature traditional dragon and lion dances, a Chinese National Costume Parade, a fireworks display, craft stalls and some delicious authentic cuisine.
