South African award-winning child influencer Kairo Forbes recently joined forces with celebrated Turkish chef, Necati Yilmaz, to delve into the rich and diverse world of Turkish cuisine.
Known for her vibrant personality and engaging content, she recently immersed herself in the rich and diverse world of Turkish cuisine during a special trip to Istanbul with her grandmother, Lynn Forbes.
Kairo's journey began as a delightful granddaughter and granny vacation, filled with exploration and nostalgia.
It was a heartfelt visit, especially as they stopped by Iznik Works Fine Turkish Art - an establishment that holds significance for Kairo, reminding her of her late father, Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes, who cherished the same cultural gem back in 2019.
Documenting their adventures on social media, the duo showcased their matching outfits while savouring the bustling streets of Istanbul and dining at some of the city's most luxurious restaurants.
Among these culinary experiences, the highly regarded executive chef Necati Yilmaz offered Kairo an unparalleled opportunity to delve into the cultural and historical significance of Turkish cuisine at the prestigious Deraliye Ottoman Restaurant.
Yilmaz, who has been mastering the art of Turkish gastronomy for over a decade, is famed for his innovative culinary techniques and has meticulously catalogued more than 400 ancient palace recipes - dishes that once delighted the taste buds of Sultans.
As Kairo sharpened her culinary skills under Yilmaz’s expert guidance, the young influencer experienced a menu that included an array of unique offerings.
These exquisite dishes not only tantalised her palate but also served as a rich tapestry of Turkey's history and culture.
Taking to Instagram, Kairo shared her experience, saying: “There is so much more to life than cooking eggs in the kitchen with your grandma and going to school!
“I went to Istanbul, Türkiye, with my Glammy (Grandma) to explore Istanbul, visit the places my dad @akaworldwide used to go and learn about the rise of the Ottoman Empire!
“I ended up sharpening my culinary skills under the guidance of the renowned Executive Chef @necati.yilmaz.istanbul in their Michelin Guide family restaurant!
“Discovering @deraliye_restaurant_istanbul and sampling their Ottoman Palace Cuisine gives you a taste of history, the rich Ottoman and Turkish food culture, and the warm Turkish hospitality! Their menu is fit for a Sultan.
“And now I have a certificate to prove that I’m part of that history! Thank you Chef Necati Yilmaz.”
