Silikamva High School's class of 2025 are looking forward to leading their school by example after they pledged to work hard and do their best during the school's annual Wall of Commitment ceremony on Saturday February 22.
"Firstly, preparing for this day, our learners placed their hands on a blank canvas and signed it to commit themselves to uphold positive values such as respect, kindness and responsibility. This encourages the learners to achieve their academic goals. By committing it helps them to learn from their mistakes and persevere through challenges, learners also develop a growth in mindset," said principal, Siphathisiwe Nkala-Nkohla.
The Wall of Commitment is meant to cultivate an atmosphere that breeds confidence and inspire pupils to improve their grades and behaviour, she said.

"The wall serves as a visual reminder to our learners of our school's values and expectations. It also promotes a sense of community and shared responsibility. It also holds learners accountable throughout the year," Ms Nkala-Nkohla said.
The school's class of 2025 also marked a historical moment by introducing their 'matric ties' on the day.
"We introduced something new at our school, our 'matric ties'. This had a positive impact on our learners and parents. Our main goal in introducing the tie this year is we wanted our Grade 12s to be different from everyone else, to build their confidence. We believe that it can also impact their academic performance. We want to promote discipline and instil routines," Ms Nkala-Nkohla said.
