He is also facing charges of handling a firearm under the influence of a substance, possession of a firearm or ammunition with intent to cause an offence or resist arrest, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of unlicensed ammunition.
During court proceedings, senior State prosecutor Advocate Krishen Shah informed the court that the South African Police Service (SAPS) had a capacity issue due to a significant portion of its analysts currently working at the ongoing Madlanga Commission, the Judicial Commission of Inquiry investigating allegations of criminality, political interference, and corruption within the criminal justice system.
“Ballistics reports are outstanding. However, the indictment has been drafted,” Shah explained to the court.
Shah further stated his intentions of indicting Le Roux to the High Court on the next occasion, provided that he receives the reports from the police.
Magistrate Wendalyn Robinson told Le Roux, who appeared in court virtually, that the matter would proceed on March 6, 2026.
