It was a harrowing weekend of crime for residents of Amaoti, near Inanda in KwaZulu-Natal.
In one incident, three men were shot and killed and a female injured, during an alleged robbery on Saturday evening.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said they arrived at the scene around 10.30pm, where several intoxicated individuals outside the house directed them to a room where the bodies of two men lay. A third male, said to be a neighbour, was found in a second room.
Meanwhile, a female who was living in the house with two of the males, was found with a gunshot wound on her finger. Reaction officers said the woman had consumed alcohol.
The woman said three armed suspects had entered the home and demanded valuables, before shooting the men and then taking their cellphones and cash.
Around 16 spent 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene, RUSA said.
A female resident was robbed of her phone and cash, and was almost raped.

In a separate robbery incident in Amaoti, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, the cries of a child allegedly prevented the sexual assault of his mother.
According to RUSA, three armed men attempted to break into a house in the area, but gave up when they could not remove the burglar bars, according to the homeowner.
He told reaction officers that the alleged suspects then broke into a neighbouring residence by kicking the front door open.
They then robbed a female resident of her phone and R350 worth of cash and then just as one of the perpetrators about to sexually assault the victim, her four-year-old son began to cry uncontrollably.
This led to the suspects fleeing the scene and thankfully no injuries were reported.
