Police arrest 50 year old in Tembisa principal murder case

Police have made a breakthrough in a shocking Tembisa house robbery and murder, arresting a 50-year-old man linked to the killing of a school principal and the assault of his wife and son.

Gauteng police have arrested a 50-year-old man in connection with the house robbery and murder of a principal in Maokeng Extension, Tembisa, in which the principal’s wife and son were also assaulted.

Gauteng police announced the breakthrough in a statement on Monday, December 15.

“A 50-year-old man was arrested last night, December 14, 2025, in connection with a house robbery and murder at Maokeng Extension, Tembisa,” said Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.

Nevhuhulwi said the investigation team followed leads that led to the suspect’s arrest at his home. 

She said more arrests are expected as investigations continue.

“The suspect is expected to appear before Tembisa Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.”

The arrest follows the opening of a case of house robbery and murder after the family of three was attacked in the early hours of Sunday, December 14.

She said four suspects forcefully entered the home using an axe. 

“The husband was shot dead, while the wife and son were assaulted. The suspects stole laptops, cellphones, and cash from the victims.”
