Tony Forbes has slammed the Madlanga Commission for allowing the footage from his son's murder to be aired.

Forbes' son, Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes, was gunned down alongside his friend, well-known celebrity chef Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane. The two were exiting a restaurant in Durban's Florida Road in February 2023.

The footage was shown during Sergeant Fannie Nkosi's testimony before the Commission last Friday.

It showed a gunman watching the rapper's movements as he hugged a friend outside the restaurant. The gunman can be seen approaching AKA and shooting him at point-blank range.

Forbes, in an interview with eNCA, said it was not necessary to show the footage in line with the questions posed to Nkosi.

"I am not in a unique position as a father, nor are we as a family in terms of families who have lost loved ones, but I want a more sensitive approach. I cannot understand that Advocate Chaskalson, who had the opportunity to view the footage, allowed this. Have they become so hardened that the cause justifies the means?

"For me, that is the disappointment I have of this whole process," Forbes said.

He has since written to the Commission to express his views.
