Constance Scholtz's murder has sent shockwaves through the Bellville South community

A 63-year-old woman has been arrested for her sister's murder after the woman's head was found stored in a Tupperware container.
It is alleged that Aletta Rose murdered her sister, 79-year-old Constance Scholtz, and then beheaded and dismembered her.
According to reports, Scholtz lived alone and neighbours became suspicious after noticing Scholtz's usually neat curtains, appearing dishevelled.
When neighbours called Scholtz's name, Rose told them she was fine and was out of town.
Another neighbour, who is related to Scholtz alerted her son, Morne van der Merwe, about her concerns.
Reports state that when van der Merwe, went to his mother's flat, his aunt told her that his mother was away. Van der Merwe then left the property.
Another neighbour then noticed a blood stain on Rose's clothing. Van Wyk was alerted once more and he returned to his mother's flat.
It is alleged that when he entered the flat, he found his mother's dismembered body parts and buckets of bloodied water.
Police were alerted. A search of the David Street property led to the discovery of more body parts, including Scholtz's head, that had been placed into Tupperware containers and left on a kitchen shelf.

Western Cape police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed that a case docket of murder has been registered following the decapitated body of a 79-year-old woman on March 19, 2026, at her residence in David Street, Bellville South.
"Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. Motive forms part of police investigations. A 63-yearold woman was arrested and appeared at Bellville Magistrates Court on Monday, March 23, 2026. The investigation continues," he said.
Meanwhile, the Bellville South Community Policing Forum has appealed for calm in the community.
"We appeal to the community to remain calm and to allow SAPS the necessary space to conduct a thorough investigation. We extend our sincere appreciation to those who acted swiftly in raising the alarm. The Bellville South CPF strongly condemns such incidents, particularly Gender-Based Violence against women, children, and the elderly," the CPF said.
It is believed that Rose was previously convicted of murdering her brother-in-law.
