Build One SA (BOSA), GOOD Party and Rise Mzansi are expected to announce their one big political party this weekend but it’s unclear who will be the leader.
Although the three parties remained tight-lipped about their actual plans, sources told IOL that the announcement will be made on Sunday.
A source said talks have been ongoing between the parties but there is no clear direction on who is going to be the leader of the party and also how the party will work.
Even the name is not yet known, the source said.
“Yes, talks are in a good stage, they share the same vision but they don’t know the name, the leader and also how it will work out.”
Another source said, “It looks good and I hope it works out because that is the best response to the mediocrity that we are subjected to by those in charge.”
“We will wait and see on Sunday because we need to really deliver for our people.”
BOSA spokesperson, Graham Charters, confirmed to IOL that the talks were still underway between the parties but reiterated that they will announce soon.
The tight-lipped Rise Mzansi said “The statement stands. There is nothing new to add at this point.”
Meanwhile, the GOOD Party has reiterated that conversations were ongoing, and “we see this as the beginning of a broader project aimed at strengthening social democracy in South Africa.”
IOL has previously reported about the parties merging into a new centrist political party ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
The new political bloc was also in talks with ActionSA to join the new coalition but party leader, Herman Mashaba pulled out.
The parties are expected to outline their plans and strategy for forming the coalition.
They believe that South Africans deserve a break from parties that did not deliver on their promises and commitments.
