N2 KZN closed after CIT robbery, security guard airlifted to hospital

The N2 southbound between the M7 and the NPC Cement Factory in Durban has been closed to traffic on Wednesday morning following an alleged CIT heist.

The N2 southbound near the NPC Cement factory in Durban has been closed following an alleged cash-in-transit robbery on Wednesday morning. 

According to ALS Paramedics, two security officers were shot, with one of them sustaining critical injuries. 

The Netcare 911 medical helicopter airlifted the patient to the hospital. 

Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the N2 southbound has been closed from the M7 to allow emergency workers to access the scene. 

"I would advise motorists to avoid this area at all costs." 

SAPS is on scene.
