Police in Mpumalanga have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old in Mgobodzi Trust, Ehlanzeni District, Mpumalanga.
The incident happened on Monday, September 29, when a family dispute reportedly turned violent. Police spokespersons said the victim was fatally assaulted following allegations that he had raped a 15-year-old girl.
The suspects, aged 47 and 26, were taken into custody and charged with murder. They are expected to appear in the Tonga Magistrate’s Court soon.
Acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the attack and warned against vigilante justice.
“We strongly urge communities to report crimes to the police rather than taking the law into their own hands,” he said.
Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
