Soweto Fashion Week returns with a strong line-up of designers

Designers from across the country brought energy and style to Soweto Fashion Week 2025, celebrating creativity and innovation in local fashion.

Soweto Fashion Week 2025 was held this week, showcases emerging and established designers under the theme of creativity and innovation in local fashion.

From student designers to acclaimed names like David Tlale, the event showcased the best of South Africa’s fashion industry.

The 3-day event kicked off with a media preview, followed by the Emerging Designers Bloc. Participants include Sew Africa, Tshwane University of Technology, University of Johannesburg, George Tebor, and the Monkey Shoulder Street Thread Battle/Winner Showcase.

The celebration featured dynamic shows, media previews, and special showcases, giving audiences a glimpse of the country’s growing fashion talent.

The main show was held yesterday, November 7, with designs by Simply Mooi, Rep Lepara, Dominion Creations, Precious Lulu, Macgale, Wanda Wear by Wanda Baloyi, and Blank Collection.

Designers from across South Africa brought energy, creativity and innovation to the three-day Soweto Fashion Week.

The final day, today, November 8 will feature FDB Human Store, UJU Designs, Originally Kasified, Enhle Babes Couture, Dope Store and acclaimed designer David Tlale.

Soweto Fashion Week is partially brought to audiences by the South African Fashion Association, with sponsors including Creme of Nature, Monkey Shoulder, Joburg City Theatres, The Star, Saturday Star, and Soweto TV.
