Schools across the city, country and beyond our borders were well represented at last week’s under-19 Belgotex Sport Easter Hockey Tournament, held at eight venues, including Hartleyvale and UCT.

The festival featured 80 teams from schools in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The festival organisers partnered Sport For Lives, an NPO which helps create campaigns for sports development initiatives.

In this case, the organisers raised funds for the Maitland Cottage Children’s Orthopaedic Hospital to acquire mobility devices.

Pictured is some of the action in the girls’ semi-final between Rustenburg Girls’ and Middelburg. Rustenburg dominated most of the early stages of the match, but Middelburg came back strongly in the latter part of the game to win 3-0.
