The Proteas will face a blockbuster rematch with defending champions India in their first ICC T20 World Cup Super Eights clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 22 February.

The two super giants faced off in the last T20 World Cup final in Barbados two years ago when Aiden Markram's team required 30 runs off 30 balls to clinch their first-ever T20 World Cup trophy.

History tells us, the Proteas faltered, falling agonisingly short by seven runs for India to clinch their second T20 World Cup championship title.

They will now meet again after both teams were among the first teams to qualify for the Super Eights stage after winning their first three matches in the group stages.

The Proteas beat Canada, won a double-over Super Over thriller with Afghanistan, and comprehensively beat New Zealand last weekend.

India, meanwhile, ran out comfortable victors over USA and Namibia before defeating arch-rivals Pakistan in their mega clash in Colombo.

The Proteas will also face 2012 and 2016 T20 World Cup winners West Indies in their second Super Eights tie on Thursday, 26 February.

They recently met in a three-match T20I series in South Africa leading up to the T20 World Cup, which the Proteas won 2-1 after falling short in a 10-over shootout at the Wanderers in the final game.

Both teams are fairly familiar with each other with a host of Windies players having also featured in the recent Betway SA20.

The Proteas are waiting for the conclusion of the final group matches to find out their opposition in their final Super Eights clash scheduled for March 1 in New Delhi.
