With the pulse of Amapiano running through his veins, Master Jay is set to make his boldest statement yet. After winning hearts with his soulful hit iNtliziyo featuring Zain SA, the rising DJ and producer is gearing up to shake the industry once more with his highly anticipated album, 'Ta Jay', set to drop on May 16.

The project promises to echo the spirit of the streets and the soul of a movement.

Speaking to The Star, Master Jay reflected on making his upcoming album 'Ta Jay', describing it as a deeply personal and carefully crafted body of work.

He shared that this project marks a significant evolution in his sound — a culmination of time, growth, and artistic exploration that long-time fans will undoubtedly recognise in every track.

“I’ve been in the industry for almost a decade, and apart from seeing the growth of Amapiano from eKasi to the world, I’ve also grown as an artist. I’ve put out projects in the past, but with this one, I took my time, more than I have before, to create something I haven’t created before. And I believe that anyone who’s been following my journey will see that in the music.”

He also revealed that his upcoming single uNkulunkulu, dropping on Friday, tells a story of perseverance, grace, and spiritual transformation. Collaborating with Zain SA, Paez SA, and Gaba Cannal, the track reflects the shared journey of artists from eKasi, where dreams are often dismissed one day, only to bloom the next. It captures the emotional, social, and spiritual shift that comes with rising from struggle to success.

Master Jay’s album dives deep into the heart of lived experience, weaving together cultural identity, spirituality, love, and personal struggle. It’s a body of work that carries both pain and celebration, pairing reflective storytelling with irresistible rhythms. Listeners can expect moments that invite soulful introspection just as much as they spark movement on the dancefloor.

He shared that as Amapiano grows and transforms, he sees his contribution as helping to shape its future by blending innovation with the genre’s authentic essence and cultural depth.

“My role has always been to push the needle of Amapiano. The only difference now is that I’m no longer starting, but I’m a grootman in the industry. I must push the movement to greater heights and continue inspiring the young ones coming up. We started this at a time when no one thought it was possible to make a living out of a genre that was new to everyone’s ears.”

'Ta Jay' is a 14-track offering that promises to reflect Master Jay’s growth, versatility, and connection to his roots, blending introspective moments with danceable rhythms and innovative sound design that pushes the boundaries of Amapiano. With this album, Master Jay teamed up with the likes of Gaba Cannal, Zain SA, Mr. Maker, Russell Zuma, Xavi Yentin, and Moscow on Keyz, just to name a few.

The album stands as a powerful reflection of Master Jay’s artistic evolution and legacy — a personal tribute to his journey within the Amapiano genre. Through this album, he cements his place in the industry, affirming his influence to long-time fans while boldly introducing himself as a grootman to new listeners.
