Limpopo musician, Shebeshxt, has been arrested for two counts of attempted murder in Polokwane.

According to provincial spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the 30-year-old suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-driven operation conducted in the upmarket suburb of Bendor on Wednesday morning, November 12, at about 09:30.

“The arrest was executed through a joint operation between the Provincial Investigation Unit and the Provincial Tracking Team following the issuance of a warrant of arrest linked to a case of two counts of attempted murder registered at Westernburg SAPS,” said Ledwaba.

The arrest is connected to a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, October 19, along Witklip Street in Ladanna, just outside Polokwane.

It is alleged that Shebeshxt real name, Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke got into a confrontation with another motorist before firing several shots at the vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old male occupant, who was later rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

“The case was initially opened at Westernburg SAPS and later transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit for further investigation. Detectives successfully obtained a warrant of arrest on Tuesday, November 11, leading to the suspect’s apprehension,” added Ledwaba.

Police also seized the Shebeshxt vehicles.

“During the operation, police also seized the suspect’s vehicles for forensic analysis as part of ongoing investigations,” said Ledwaba.

Shebeshxt is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, November 13, facing two counts of attempted murder.

Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the investigation team for their swift and coordinated work.

“We are taking this matter very seriously, and a dedicated team was appointed to ensure that no stone is left unturned. The South African Police Service reiterates that no one is above the law, regardless of their social standing,” Hadebe.
