Two dead and four injured in Langlaagte shooting as police launch investigation

Police are investigating two counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder following a violent shooting in the early hours of Sunday morning, May 10, in Zamimpilo Informal Settlement, Langlaagte.

According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 03:00, when a group of more than 40 people were sitting outside a local tavern, socialising and drinking.

Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said the gathering was suddenly interrupted when three unknown suspects approached and opened fire on the crowd.

“The suspects are unknown at this stage, and the motive for the attack is yet to be determined. Police investigations are ongoing,” said Sibeko.

Six people were struck by gunfire. Two adult males were fatally wounded and declared dead at the scene, while four others were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Their conditions have not yet been confirmed.

Police said no arrests have been made and the suspects remain at large as investigations continue.

Authorities are probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have appealed to the public for any information that may assist in tracing those responsible.
